What Do Dermal Fillers Do?

Dermal fillers are injectable gel treatments, with one of the main compounds being hyaluronic acid which helps to restore lost of volume, enhance facial contours, and improve facial symmetry. They can also soften the appearance of lines and folds, creating a fresher, more youthful look while maintaining natural-looking results.

Dermal fillers can be used to:

  • Enhance and define the lips
  • Restore volume to the cheeks
  • Improve chin and jawline definition
  • Soften nose-to-mouth lines (nasolabial folds)
  • Reduce marionette lines
  • Rejuvenate the chin and lower face
  • Improve facial balance and profile

Every treatment is tailored to your individual facial features and aesthetic goals following a thorough consultation.

How Long Do Dermal Fillers Last?

Results are visible immediately, although some swelling and bruising may occur in the first few days. The final result is usually seen once any swelling has settled.

Most dermal fillers last between 6 and 18 months, depending on:

  • The area treated
  • The type of filler used
  • Your metabolism
  • Your lifestyle and individual response
Over time, the filler is naturally broken down by the body, and maintenance treatments can help preserve your results.

Who Cannot Have Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers may not be suitable if you:

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Have an active skin infection, cold sore, or inflammation in the treatment area.
  • Have a known allergy to any of the filler ingredients.
  • Have certain autoimmune conditions or uncontrolled medical conditions, depending on your medical history.
  • Are currently unwell with a significant illness or infection.
  • Are under 18 years of age.

A full consultation and medical assessment will be carried out before treatment to ensure dermal fillers are safe and appropriate for you.
